CALLING ALL CYCLISTS! – Pedal for the J’s 2019 Charity Bike Ride in support of J’s Hospice
    SUNDAY 5th MAY 2019

For the fifth year running, Beaulieu is sponsoring “Pedal for the J’s” charity bike ride in support of the J’s Hospice in Chelmsford. J’s Hospice nurses provide much needed care to young adults with life limiting conditions and support for their families in their own homes, throughout Essex. J’s Hospice is entirely funded by donations and has recently become part of the wider Havens Hospice Group. Over the last four years Beaulieu has been proud to be the main sponsor of Pedal for the J’s and our staff have been most generous in taking part and helping them to raise vital funds.

We would like to extend an invitation to Beaulieu residents to join us to form this years’ Beaulieu cycling team. For those that have not taken part before “Pedal for the J’s” is a really family friendly event that caters for all abilities. There are three different circular routes that take you through the villages and countryside to the west of Chelmsford, starting and finishing in Admirals Park in Chelmsford – 15, 35 and 50 miles.

A dedicated registration page has been set up for the “Beaulieu Team” with the first 50 registrations FREE. Please visit https://www.havenshospices.org.uk/beaulieu to register and for further information. All members of the “Beaulieu Team” will be provided with a Beaulieu cycling top to wear on the day. If you would like a branded top please email: catherine.beasley@cpplc.com stating the size you require. (Please order a size bigger than you would normally wear).

We do hope you will be able to join us in supporting your local hospice.

  • Work begins on new Community Gardens at Beaulieu

Work begins on new Community Gardens at Beaulieu
Parks and open green spaces are a major feature at Beaulieu, giving residents a beautiful living environment and a wealth of choice when it comes to outdoor activities.

This will be enhanced with the establishment of the new Community Gardens spanning over 11 acres. Work has already begun this month to deliver the Gardens for Beaulieu’s residents and the wider community.

Once completed, the Gardens will include a woodland area creating an important corridor in which wildlife can flourish. A community fruit orchard and planting area will be provided along with formal landscaped areas and an avenue connecting to the Estate Parkland. The plans also include a large open space for outdoor recreation and play.

Work will be carried out to preserve below ground, the 16th Century Tudor lime kiln which was discovered during recent archaeological investigations. A seating area with carvings and an information board will be installed to mark its location.

Andrew Carrington, Managing Director of Strategic Land at Countryside, comments: “The addition of the new community gardens at Beaulieu will give residents and the wider community even more choice to pursue and enjoy outdoor activities and events, whilst also providing an outdoor place for learning. We have left a substantial area of detailed planting and landscaping to be designed in collaboration with the local residents.

As with all of the parks and opens spaces here at Beaulieu, the Gardens will be managed by Beaulieu Estate Management, part of the Land Trust. They will work alongside local residents to manage gardening projects and to host community events. It is hoped that the gardens will also be used by the wider community, local schools and colleges, for education, forest schooling and training”.

A tool shed and community building with toilets, washing facilities and community/teaching space are to be provided with a small car/bike parking facility.

Over this weekend 7th and 8th July 2018, we will be carrying out emergency works to the drainage on Zone E (land parcel adjacent to the Beaulieu Heath marketing suite).
Works will not commence until after 8am during this period and will seek to minimise any noise and disruption during these works.

These works are essential to be carried out during a period of minimal personal on site hence the need to work over the coming weekend.
